Situation:
The water supply for this client’s facility came from two different sources: a municipal wastewater treatment plant and a surface water reservoir. Both sources were characterized by extreme variations in temperature and turbidity.
Challenges:
Itasca needed to create a system that was capable of filtering a feed stream of varying quality into a continuous flow of purified water.
Solution:
An innovative hollow fiber ultra-filtration system was designed and installed to treat the raw water before it fed a traditional reverse osmosis system. Regardless of the quality of the feed water supplying it, the new system was precision-designed to always meet the challenging filtration specification of .03 microns at 600 gpm.
Results:
The hollow fiber ultra-filtration system has proven to be an excellent option for unique water supply challenges, providing excellent feed water to the Itasca RO systems.
